"This is how I would love to live on a daily basis," said Goldberg, alluding to the heaps of caviar being served by a pair of French waiters who had been flown in especially for the fete. The highlight of the night, however, was the toast. "There are only 2,000 bottles of this cognac in the world --- and they are made out of the best II vintages of the century, starting from 1900 to 1990," said Maurice Hennessy, as servers filled snifters all around with the rare drink, valued at $3,000 a bottle. After several sweet sips, Goldberg asked, "Are we all cognaced yet? Let's toast each other!" Caroline Rhea, whom Goldberg had met at Comic Relief a couple of years back, lamented, "I can hear my father crying all the way in Arizona that he's hot here." Teri Hatcher, leaving early with a Waterford crystal clock, the evening's parting gift, noted of her Soapdish co-star: "Whoopi is just the most down-to-earth host."
